The chlorine reacts with the gold inside the ore to form gold chloride. Filter the ore and bleach solution to remove all the impurities, such as soil and rock fragments. Collect the filtered gold chloride solution in a flask. Place powdered sodium metabisulfate in another flask and dissolve with water.

HCl bleach will produce chlorine gas and you could only absorb some of it in the liquid, the rest goes off as gas. Add small increments, stir and let it work for a while. When you think it stopped working, add a dab more... until all gold is dissolved.
Dissolving Gold Ore With Bleach And Hcl. I have used a number of chemicals these I have found to be the most widely available. 1 gallon of Clorox Bleach. or Sodium hypochlorate at 6% 2. Muriatic Acid 34% HCL Baume. 3. Hydrogen Peroxide - 3% but no greater then 5% 4. Stumpout by Bonide. or Sodium bisulfate - 99.9% as specified in the Msds or Sodium Meta Bisulfite.
Using only the HCl acid muratic will normally breakdown the rock/silca which encases the gold. but HCl is also used to remove/dissolve the base metals associated with plated gold. And then further refined by placing the gold recovered into a solution of HCl and bleach, which will dissolve the gold into the solution.

The amount of HCl added and hence initial pH was found to have a major impact on gold leaching kinetics and maximum gold recovery. A very slow gold leaching kinetics was obtained when no acid was added. On the other extreme, 9 g/L of added HCl caused a very high reactivity that produced a very fast gold leaching kinetics. Hypochlorite species reactions with sulfide and ferrous content of ore ...

*Cupellation is a refining process in metallurgy, where ores or alloyed metals are treated under high temperatures and controlled operations to separate noble metals, like gold and silver, from base metals like lead, copper, zinc, arsenic, antimony or bismuth, present in the ore. The process is based on the principle that precious metals do not oxidise or react chemically, unlike the base ...

So when we have gold fine powder or foils this method has a very hard time trying to dissolve solid bigger pieces of metal , the gold in the HCl is oxidized by the chlorine gas formed from the acid and bleach , this chlorine take’s electrons from the gold atoms, the gold becomes an ion Cation , this gold Cation joins with three chloride Anions to form a soluble salt or compound of gold ...

hydrochloric acid with strong oxidizing compounds are known to generate in-situ nascent chlorine which is capable of dissolving gold efficiently. In this study, the authors investigated the capability of a hot mixture of hydrochloric acid and ground manganese IV oxide to dissolve gold metal either under atmospheric or pressurized conditions ...
such as hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride and temperature. The dissolution rate of gold in hypochlorite solution is much faster than other lixiviants. Due to the interference of impurities, gold extraction from an ore under ambient conditions requires large quantities of reagents. However, refractory gold ores may be successfully pressure
The reaction with hydrochloric acid is an equilibrium reaction that favors formation of chloroaurate anions AuCl 4 − . This results in a removal of gold ions from solution and allows further oxidation of gold to take place. The gold dissolves to become chloroauric acid. In addition, gold may be dissolved by the chlorine present in aqua regia.

Place the gold ore in the cement mixer. Pour in the hot water, bleach and HCL. The mixture should be 15 percent sodium hypochlorite and 33 percent hydrochloric acid. The mixture should cover the rocks, so multiply the mixture until the rock is covered.
Gold is an almost non-reactive metal, but halogens — chlorine, bromine, fluorine and iodine — can dissolve it. Chlorine is the cheapest and lightest product that can achieve this. Bleach is the chemical compound sodium hypochlorite. When combined with hydrochloric acid, the mixture produces chlorine that dissolves gold from gold ore. This ...

Highlights Two gold ores were subjected to iodide/iodine leaching. The carbonaceous ore showed only 20% gold extraction. Gold extraction from the oxide ore reached 89% in 24 h. A power law rate equation was applied to model the gold extraction kinetics. Gold leaching rate was first order with respect to tri-iodide concentration.
